Our Story
Sam Wildermuth is the Director of Wildermuth Legal, a Brisbane-based criminal defence firm. He is one of a limited number of Accredited Specialists in Criminal Law in Queensland and was recognised by his peers as a three-time Doyle’s Guide Rising Star from 2021 to 2023.
Sam has dedicated his career exclusively to criminal law and brings over a decade of experience as a criminal defence lawyer representing clients at every stage of the criminal justice process. He honed his skills working at leading criminal law firms in Brisbane, where he developed a strong foundation in advocacy, case strategy, and client representation before establishing Wildermuth Legal in 2025.
His experience spans the full spectrum of matters — from serious indictable offences, including murder, through to regulatory and summary offences such as drink driving. He has appeared in courts across Queensland, including the Brisbane Magistrates Court and superior courts, as well as the Court of Appeal, the High Court, and the Mental Health Court.
Sam is regularly engaged to act for other lawyers, medical practitioners, and professionals facing criminal or regulatory investigations. These matters often involve complex and high-stakes allegations, requiring careful judgment, discretion, and a strategic approach. His reputation for clear advice and effective representation has resulted in ongoing referrals from within the legal profession and other industries.
In addition to his work as a criminal lawyer, Sam has extensive experience in investigative and regulatory proceedings. He has appeared in compulsory examinations and hearings before bodies such as the Crime and Corruption Commission and the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, as well as in Workplace Health and Safety prosecutions, including matters arising from serious workplace incidents and fatalities.
Sam is committed to providing clear, practical advice and strong representation to his clients. He is known for his approachable manner, good humour, and ability to build genuine rapport, ensuring clients remain informed, supported, and confident throughout the legal process.
